Reviews

"After years of searching for a reliable shield light and testing multiple options, I consistently ran into the same issues - either the lights were underpowered or the mounting system failed under stress. The Vector has finally solved both problems. It delivers an impressive level of illumination and features a rock-solid mounting system that stays secure during the demanding operations. This is the first shield light I’ve used that truly meets operational needs without compromise." - Deputy Kim (IL)

"The Vector is lightweight, bright/blinding, absolutely love how small the pressure switch is so it doesn't mess with your grip, and the mounting system is great for peeking" - Det. David M (AZ)

"I really like that all the wiring is on the "safe" side of the shield on your light.  We've had problems over the years with wiring wearing down and breaking where it is wrapped around the edge of the shield.  That wouldn't be a problem on this light." - Det. Abate (IL)

F.A.Q.

Our most asked questions, all in one place.

What makes TacMount ballistic shield lights uniquely effective?

TacMount shield lights are SWAT-designed and built to increase officer safety during tactical operations, delivering up to 2,760 lumens of high-intensity light in a modular, reliable, and robust platform.

How long do TacMount shield lights run on a single charge?

VECTOR and NIGHTHAWK (Infrared) lights deliver approximately 1.5 hours of consistent, high-lumen illumination on a rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack.

Are TacMount shield lights compatible with different ballistic shields?

Yes. TacMount's patent-pending spacer system allows quick and secure mounting on virtually any ballistic shield - curved or flat - without compromising NIJ-rated protection.

What warranty and support do TacMount products offer?

TacMount Solutions includes a “Critical Incident Warranty”: if your shield light is damaged during a documented critical incident, we will replace it free of charge, no questions asked.

What are ballistic shield lights and why do law enforcement use them?

Ballistic shield lights mount directly to protective shields, offering hands-free, high-intensity illumination that enhances visibility and decision-making in low-light law enforcement and SWAT scenarios.

How bright are ballistic shield lights?

Most shield lights deliver between 500 and 1,500 lumens. TacMount’s shield lights provide some of the industry’s highest output at 2,760 lumens with 72,000 peak candela—ideal for night operations, breaching, and high-risk environments.

Do shield-mounted lights affect ballistic shield performance or regulations?

No. TacMount lights are designed to clamp onto shields while maintaining full compliance with National Institute of Justice (NIJ) certifications and standards.

Can I retrofit an existing shield with a light instead of buying a new one?

In most cases, modifying a ballistic shield by drilling or altering its structure can compromise the shield’s integrity and may void its NIJ certification. Because officer safety depends on ballistic integrity, retrofitting through permanent modification is not recommended.

TacMount addresses this challenge differently: our shield lights use a patent-pending spacer system that attaches securely to most existing shields without drilling or structural changes. This allows officers to upgrade current gear with high-output lighting while keeping the shield’s ballistic rating and compliance fully intact.
